I’m the owner of the white and blue Fury (with the ECC first bimini top). I’ve never owned a skiff before and I was trading down from a slightly larger and more family oriented boat. Lets just say my wife was not excited (to say the least). However, I love to inshore fish and after researching almost every skiff builder I was beginning to think I would once again have to compromise between fish-ability and comfort. NOT TRUE. I stumbled upon East Cape online, scoped out the forum and couldn’t find a single negative about the company. Too good to be true?..NOPE. I made a trip to the shop and Marc gave me a quick tour. I then called Kevin and asked him a few fact finding questions. SOLD. Between those two, who couldn’t be passionate about wanting an East Cape Skiff. Fast forward, and I now have my skiff. I was nervous about the maiden voyage because my wife was coming with me. She saw how easy it was to launch, I turned on the tunes, put up the bimini and took her on a cruise. I was making progress. I dropped the trolling motor, pulled into a creek and we wet some lines. She was starting to get impressed. We decided to hit some big water and cut across the sound….we cut through wakes and waves without a drop of water landing on us and a lot smoother than expected. She was SOLD. So smooth in fact I literally bottomed out on a sandbar, but alas, only the engine bottomed out. We were literally floating in ankle deep water….WOW. We put-putted off the bar and enjoyed the rest of our trip.
To anyone who doesn’t want compromise and needs to impress the “real decision maker” I highly recommend EAST CAPE SKIFFS.
To all the East Cape Crew – thanks for taking all the questions and providing answers that exceed expectations. You build an awesome skiff!
